about

I don't particularly remember writing this song. I'm guessing I probably wrote it and recorded a rough take in '05 or '06 & then just never got around to tackling a properly recorded version til "Bad Guy!" It's a difficult song for me to sing all the way through, wears my voice out fast. I'm happy with this version though. It actually came out better than I expected.

The accompanying photo is a shot peeking out at The Neighbors' Place through the awesome stained glass window in the awesome house at which I was staying in Salem earlier this year. (Thanks again, Neil & Gwen!)

lyrics

Home, could it be upside or down?
Could it be here in this town?
Rainbow flag painted brown
by the dust and debris that coats everything.

Home, on the palm of your hand
map leads to right where you stand.
Molecules drifting say,
"Remember, people like us are wrong all the time you know."

Home, used to be the USSR,
used to be half way too far.
Could it be wherever you are?
No that's the stars in your eyes
reminding you of your

Home, could it be touched in the head?
Could it be better off dead?
Does it remember what you said
and does it hold a grudge?

Home, does it work just like you planned?
Know it like the back of my hand
but I never did understand
what that means 'cause when I walk the streets
I look down.

Does it come out in the night?
Does it change shape in the light?
Does it tell you might equals right,
giving you the fight of your life?

Buries you deep in the sand,
takes your food, bites your hand.
Make your very last stand
for the place you call

Home, could it be upside or down?
Could it be here in this town?
Rainbow flag painted brown
by the dust & debris, it coats everything.

Home, on the palm of your hand,
map leads to right where you stand.
Molecules drifting say,
"Remember, people like us are wrong all the time you know."

Home, used to be the USSR.
Is it really always so far?
Could it be wherever you are?
No that's the stars in your eyes
reminding you of your home.
